Foreigner-Konzert in Mainz
Die Band hat weltweit über 80 Millionen Tonträger verkauft und wurde in die ‚Rock & Roll Hall of Fame‘ aufgneommen. Das 50-jährige Bandbestehen wird in diesem Jahr mit einer großen Open Air Tour gefeiert. Meine Kollegin Nina Seeh war beim ausverkauften Konzert in der Mainzer Zitadelle dabei – für ein 17:30@night.

Die Kultband feiert in diesem Jahr ihr 50-jähriges Jubiläum. Die Band wird als britisch-amerikanische Gruppe von Mick Jones gegründet, der Name „Foreigner“ entsteht, weil immer einige Bandmitglieder im jeweiligen Land „Ausländer“ waren. Heute steht keines der Gründungsmitglieder mehr auf der Bühne. Für ihr neues Live-Album kommen die drei Frontsänger der Bandgeschichte aber wieder zusammen.

Vor allem in den letzten Jahren stellen sie fest, dass immer mehr jüngere Leute zu den Konzerten kommen und zur Rockmusik finden.

„There’s always that push from society to conform you know, radio has gotten very harmoginzied, sort of all sounds the same, so the rebellious aspect of Rock’N‘Roll is just as relevant as it’s ever been. So let’s hope that rock can do something, come back to life and shock people into expressing themselves and being themselves rather than just being part oft he crowd.“
